Seriously. A person could pause on any random frame of the series and have something worth hanging on the wall. Beautifully and thoughtfully shot.

Well written and enlightening! Never thought of Caravaggio in those terms before.

And you're right that the Pentax Monochrome has been flying off the shelves. I decided to try to really define what makes it special. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this:

Christopher:

Just now reading your article on Pentax Forums. Well done! It's the best and clearest explanation I've seen about what makes monochrome digital cameras not just worthwhile but a head above their color-sensitive siblings in image quality and usability.

Still trying to figure out how I can afford to buy myself a K-3 iii Mono.

I didn't know anything about OLED technology before reading your piece. One more thing that's going to make me want to spend money. ;)

It will be interesting to see what this dual technical development does to contemporary BW photography. Will galleries want to invest in OLED screens for their shows? Will the makers of digital printers work out better printing systems to capture all that resolution and tonal variation? These are interesting times.

Thanks for the comment!

Thanks Bob! Glad you liked the article.

I know the Monochrome isn't cheap in real life -- though it is crazy cheap compared to the Leica Monochroms! -- but please believe me it is such a game changer it is difficult to photograph with any other camera, once you've had a chance to use the Monochrome!
