News From Bob Keefer: My work in a show opening Friday on the Oregon Coast
Head to Reedsport's Mindpower Gallery Friday evening to see lots of art and enjoy a wine and music reception
Reedsport’s Mindpower Gallery is celebrating its 35th anniversary this fall with a juried show that will feature work by a whopping 100 Oregon artists — including me.
I’ll have two pieces in the show, including this 18x24-inch hand-colored landscape photo of the wonderfully haunted trees along the Hobbit Trail behind the Heceta Head lighthouse. I haven’t seen a full list of the other artists, but I hear that the show includes work by Eugene painter Richard Quigley and Veneta painter Sarkis Antikajian.
The reception, with live music, snacks and wine tasting, runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the gallery at 417 Fir Ave., Reedsport. Stop in! The show runs through Oct. 3; regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
In other exhibition news, I’ve also been invited to take part in the popular WhitPrint Holiday Sale, which returns Dec. 6-8 after a pandemic hiatus. Details to come.
And in 2025, look for my Fire & Ice exhibition of hand-colored photos of ice-storm and fire-damaged trees in the Oregon forest. The show opens at Umpqua Community College art gallery in Roseburg from March 31 to April 30. The exhibition then travels to the southern Oregon Coast, where it will run at the Bandon Public Library in October and November.
Finally, in other photographic news from our home out here in the woods, you might enjoy a couple recent wildlife photos. First off, here’s a quick shot of one of the local fawns, who dug itself a comfy little bed the other day in the garden next to the bird bath.
And it’s apple time, which means the bears like to sneak into our orchard at night and feast on the fruit. This one, caught by the trail camera Tuesday morning a little before 10 o’clock, seems to be weighing the tempting smell of fresh apples against its fear of showing itself close to our house, which is just up the trail, in the daytime.
See you in Reedsport!
Thanks, Robert!
